FAQ

We care about you and your experience with our products, and we take all your questions seriously. In the meantime, we have compiled a list of some of our most common questions so you can (hopefully!) get your answers right away

What does "all-natural" mean?

All of our ingredients are plant based or naturally occurring, we only use essential oils for both their functional and aromatic benefits. We rarely use preservatives in our products, but when needed to ensure quality and stability we use Grapefruit Seed Extract as a natural alternative.  Our products are FREE from chemicals, toxins, GMO's, artificial colours and fragrances, aluminum and other harmful ingredients.

Are all your products Vegan?

Almost! The exception to our vegan ingredients is Beeswax in our Beard Balm, the qualities of Candelilla that make it ideal for skin balms prevent it from giving the lasting hold needed for a beard balm.

We choose vegan ingredients in most of our products for their benefits to the planet and their performance. Bamboo-based charcoal makes a finer and softer charcoal in our Underarm Detox, and we love Candelilla Wax in our Lip Balm, Calendula Balm and Moon Time Balm as it provides a perfect combination of tackiness to keep the products in place, with a quicker evaporation rate so you don’t have a lingering sticky feeling.

What does “Environmentally conscious” mean to R&R Self-Care?

A wise frog once said, “It’s not easy being green”, and it’s just as hard to DEFINE being green these days. In the days of green washing and confusing product definitions we’ve opted for honest conversation with our customers instead. We aren’t perfect, and that’s okay but we work every day to get better, some of the things we do to reduce our impact as much as possible are:

- Purchasing packaging materials made of more easily recyclable materials like glass and aluminum.
- Providing bulk purchasing options to our customers, when possible, to help reduce the cost to customers and the waste created.
- We only use natural ingredients rather than less expensive synthetic ingredients that have a greater impact on our environment.
- We prioritize working with companies who ship in lower waste packaging and try to buy in the largest quantities we can.
- Most of our carrier oils arrive in difficult-to-recycle HDPE 2 plastic, so we purchase TerraCycle boxes to ensure that as much of our plastic waste as possible is properly recycled.

What is the best way to care for and store the natural products? 

Keep your R&R Self-Care products stored in a cool, dark place, away from sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid getting water or other products into the containers, and always put the lids back on before storing. 

Are your products organic?

We recognize the value of organic ingredients, but we also want to keep our prices accessible. So, while some ingredients may be organic, none of our products contain exclusively organic ingredients.

There’s something wrong with one of the products I purchased from you, what should I do?

Our second biggest fear is that there’s a problem with our product.

Sorry, no tabloid drama here. It’s much less exciting, but we have simply made the conscious decision to prioritize our emotional self-care, and opted not to use platforms that make that mindfulness a bit more challenging at times.  

We love our customers and want to genuinely connect with you, so we are committed to finding unique and fun ways to bring us in contact with the people we appreciate most, our customers.

What is the shelf life / expiry date of your products? 

All our products are made with natural ingredients which means none of the harsh chemical preservatives you may find in other products. We do use Grapefruit Seed Extract in some products but still recommend you use our products within 12 months of opening.  

We hope you love our products so much you’ll use them much quicker than that.

Do you donate products to support community fundraisers?

While we wish we could support every request we receive (because a lot of you are doing amazing things in the community!), unfortunately, we cannot. We will consider requests that meet the following criteria:

• Registered charitable organization

• Located in Sarnia-Lambton (initially, as we expand into other communities, we hope to be able to support those communities as well)

• Supports the Sarnia-Lambton community directly

In the spirit of peace and friendship, we honour the Anishinaabek of the Three Fires Confederacy on whose territory we live and work.
